A recent face-plant posting of mine

Post by Dantana »

Okay then, here's the tl;dr (too long, didn't read) part first: Does anybody really know what time it is, some of us who don't, rely on other methods.

So, I don't begrudge anyone the right to their opinion. Talking politics is what we do. But, do any of us really know wtf we're talking about. I'm thinking of Leonard down at the Home depot, who for some reason is working as a lumber loader even though he apparently knows every thing there is to know about house building. Anyway, I tend to think that education and qualifications count... I guess, cause, I mean, put ten guys with Ph.D.'s in economics, etc. in a room, ask them what happens if one sticks his finger in the machine here... or there, and you're gonna get ten different opinions and an eyebrow fight. Couple that with partisan politics, corruption, Russian troll farms, media bias, and you get things like flat-earthers and con-trail conspiracies.
So, for those of us who don't feel like we have enuf unadulterated data to make an informed decision, we have to rely on less scientific methods. You know, what most of us are qualified to do. Rely on our instincts. Like, what the person looks like, is their wife a companion or a trophy, are their appointees qualified and competent or sycophants, are they basically illiterate, do they make up playground baby names for people they don't like, have they been designated a "F----ing moron" by Rex T. and later General Kelly.
So, here's a question; is/was the economy booming because of D.T. or in spite of him. I haven't a clue. But what I do know is, the last person I want sticking his finger in the machine is F---face von Clownstick.

You remember the news conference where Trump is asked what the metrics will be for re-opening the country? He pointed to his head and said "It's all in here". I'm guessing that didn't fill you with confidence.

I was thinking about how people say that Trump lacks compassion and empathy. But a Global Pandemic amplifies what the lack of compassion and empathy have already shown: Trump doesn't understand other people's suffering.

Think of Trump's comment about P.O.W. John McCain: "I like guys who don't get caught".

Ivanka Trump remembered her father passing a homeless man and saying ‘You know, that guy has $8 billion more than me.' because he was in such extreme debt at that point. But I think it shows how Trump elevates his problems above the problems of anyone else. His narcissism makes the suffering of others difficult for him to comprehend.

Our nation is in for a period of suffering, both socially and economically. We are in for a hard winter. A strong leader would level with the American people, and challenge them to rise to the occasion. But Trump is thinking "Why does this happen to me? First I'm impeached, and then this damn virus comes along and destroys the economy. I've got to get the economy back, because that's my big card, and I can't afford to lose this hand."

On Friday I watched the President on the White House lawn, telling the assembled press that the truckers that were honking were honking in support of him. Denial is second nature to our President. This summer and fall, as the death toll rises by tens of thousands, it will more important to the President to assign blame rather than comfort a nation.

I can't for the life of me figure out why so many will die on the hill of Trump as their champion when there is an unlimited supply of people who could fill his shoes with the same political agenda...who aren't clinically bananas.

I think you know enough to realize you're never going to get a nonpartisan answer to that question.

Oh. Aren't there, like, graphs and things?

I mean, surely the idea of 'the economy booming' must refer to something objective like gross domestic product, employment, or whatever? It's not just some kind of 'Gee! I sure feel like the economy is booming!' kind of thing, is it?

Or do the graphs and things point the opposite way to how you feel, so you know they must be wrong?

If there's one thing we've learned about Trump and his lemmings, it's that because they are so selfish, cynical, corrupt, and stupid, all wrapped up in a single package, they aren't objective enough to understand that there are people in the world not like them. That's why they project their own garbage, paranoia and selfishness on everyone else. They aren't wise enough to understand that most people aren't as ____ as they are. They can't even believe it, they suck that much.
