Shades: I did not say that you are guilty of being the direct source of all that rubbish that is found on your board, but you clearly are responsible for there being such a venue, which is clearly a rhetorical sewer. One only has to have had a glance at the stuff posted by Dr. Scratch.

In addition, you clearly endorse the worst of what you permit. Why? You got caught upvoting all that absurd, false, insulting, nasty stuff on the "Kiwi Mormon" blog.

And after all that nonsense about how I violate Patheos rules, and how Professor Peterson protects me. And you have now witnessed your own buddies violating even those Patheos rules on the "Kiwi Mormon" blog, and seemingly taking delight in the filth that was spewed out.

https://www.patheos.com/blogs/danpeters ... 4931612641
You have to hand it to Midgley. This entire post is utter nonsense, (caught upvoting? Please.) but the old guy is going down swinging.

"I think that Blair Hodges was that source of my email. In January 1-2 Dr. Velho Burrinho boasted that he is tight with an important person in the Neal A. Maxwell Institute. And that it was someone who had strong opinions about the harm that apologists have done."
Ok this is a huge facepalm. The Professor with his tinfoil hat is seeing things that are not there. Or maybe there is some secret agent from the MI passing along this information he goes by the name "spit-r-swallow."

Actually Midgley's Email really was given to me by an source at the Interpreter Foundation. If it was a problem with me getting the email maybe they need to tighten the ship.

....the following remarks about me on Gina Colvin's "Kiwi Mormon" blog (on Patheos):

I was described as "creepy," as a "creepy stalker," of being a "disingenuous stalker," of "perverted behavior," of being a "conscience-less creep," "a disgusting, mean, and angry old man," with "a long and well-documented history of nastiness, personal attacks and stalking," with documented instances, yet.

I was also accused of having "made up lie after lie that her [Gina Colvin's] husband wanted to meet me." I was also accused of being "mean-spirited," and of "vile behavior," and "boorish behavior," and again of being a "creepy stalker." I was described as a disgusting excuse for a human being. He is a creep and perverted beyond belief." And he is guilty of "un-Christian like behavior," and he is involved in the "blood-thirsty culture of Mopologists" (whatever that is). I am "quite simply a mean spirited and tremendously unkind bigot," I am also full of "rudeness." I am also advised to "stop trolling and slither back to [my] cesspool known as sic et non," which is name of Professor Peterson’s Patheos blog. I am also "dishonest." And "I did not complete the course work for my Ph.D. [sic] in political science." I am "frequently dishonest, mean-spirited, racist, and highly offensive." And "Dan [Peterson] protects me and allows me to egregiously violate Patheos rules.

Need I go into more of the disgusting details about the rubbish that was posted about me on the "Kiwi Mormon" blog? Or in the practice run on the Dr. Shades board that was launched on 1-2 January 2020 by Dr. Shades, without a single word of caution or moderation by Dr. Shades about any of the rubbish that was set out.

http://disq.us/p/29k7abb
Well, yes, Midgley, you have summed up yourself pretty accurately. I don’t know why you insist on re-stating the elements of your bad behavior over and over, but, to each his own.

It’s worth pointing out Shades‘ comment:

By "false, insulting, nasty stuff," you're referring to your own words that merely got quoted?

Sam LeFevre Louis Midgley • 31 minutes ago

I have come to the conclusion that those who rely the most on scientism, probably do not have much foundational understanding of science or how it really works. So, in a sense, I see gemli and Charles like some of my first year students

http://disq.us/p/29kpt18
That’s why it is disappointing that a person with a science background listens to putzes like Midgley. Gemli holds a Master’s of Science, and in no way “relies upon scientism.” I don’t know Charles, but based on his posts, I see no evidence he does either.

Too bad Sam LeFevre is falling for Midgley’s nonsense. I wouldn’t have expected such a lazy approach from someone in his position.

At the end of the day, it's highly unusual that you get a "Physics Guy" who both works hard in his field and also works to really understands the underpinnings of his field. Sam has no idea what he's talking about. He has has no special insight into "how science really works." All the names that Lou Midgley quotes from phil science against Gemli are unknowns for Sam also.

Good point, we are lucky to have a large number of pretty thoughtful people on this board, who are willing to think independently but also investigate new positions and additional viewpoints. I really appreciate that.

Yes. You do.

[LM]”Or in the practice run on the Dr. Shades board that was launched on 1-2 January 2020 by Dr. Shades, . . .“

I never launched such a thing, as you are very well aware. If you disagree, please quote me wherein I supposedly did so.

[LM]”without a single word of caution or moderation by Dr. Shades about any of the rubbish that was set out then or ever on his pet project.”

Let me guess. . . "Rubbish" = "That which Professor Dr. Louis C. Midgley, Esq. disagrees with, however true or well-reasoned." Right?
Lol. Dr. Shades for the win.

Yeah, Shades is cleaning up over there. And the reward for his command of logic and facts? A one-day banning.

But notice the power dynamic of that banning. It's by word only -- Shades has to comply or presumably a more serious technology-based ban will be imposed.

Louis - Part of what I had in mind were the more than forty upvotes by Dr. Shades...
You counted the upvotes? I suppose that is what puts the science in political science.

Louis Midgley Moksha • 13 hours ago
Moksha: This is more science than most critics can muster, is it not?

Moksha Louis Midgley • 11 hours ago
If you need a working hypothesis what about these two ideas:

Hypothesis #1 - Displays of peevishness by defenders will garner the most upvotes.
Hypothesis #2 - Displays of humor by outsiders will get the most downvotes.

Hope that helps.

Kiwi - As you of course know, Moksha, Lou was referring to your usual internet home.
Louis used to post at the Shades board?

Louis - I may have. So what?
I am forgetful too. So Kiwi's implication was that you were best buds with the FAIR board and would have praised it to the highest heavens if that misunderstanding as to which board you were talking about had not arisen, right?

Was your screen name Thumper by any chance?

Lou can't read that, as it will harm the sensitive Holy Spirit in him and it will cease to function. The Holy Ghost is very sensitive, and cannot abide in a filthy vessel, so Lou must keep clean and not read anythin except church related materials, oh....... and Sic et Non, of course, where the Holy Ghost resides in pure power.

Lyin' Lou continues to swim in the waters of hypocrisy with this missive to Moksha when discussing gemli's character:

"Even you should realize that it is wrong to imagine something about someone about whom one knows essentially nothing and then suspect something about that person."

Oh, the irony!

I used to think that the Midgey the Mopologist was making Mormons look bad, but I’ve concluded that if enough of Midgley’s posts are read, there is no way one can continue to think he represents any type of typical LDS member. At least I hope not. He is a completely unique goofball! He does make Peterson look bad, however, and I’m sure BYU doesn’t relish hearing about the utter joke their emeritus professor has become. The Maxwell Institute is far better off without members who write things like this:

Louis Midgley Moksha 11 hours ago

I have only used a "screen name" once, and it was for one day on fake Dr. Walter Martin's daughter's board--Professor Peterson will remember a month when we both posted on that thing. For a day I was both Louis Midgley and also a Maori, and this threw those jerks into fits. Then my wife gently admonished me to cease, which I instantly did.

Then for something like two months that dreadful board had two or three dim items posted a week, until Dan turned up and introduced himself, and said "now let the attacks begin," and they did. In an hour there were at least fifty typically stupid Fundamentalist countercult type attacks posted on that thing. It was amusing for a few weeks and then that board was shut down by its owner. Dan answered someone whose screen name was something like DimWit46, and each time Dan responded to this fellow, he dropped one of his number until he was DW3 or 4. But that was a very brief episode in our lives

https://www.patheos.com/blogs/danpeters ... 4933235895
Or this hysterical definition of love among the non believing:

You are confused about this. What you "suspect gemli would advocate for Human love and understanding" may like be merely love in the sense of "making love"--that is, wanting to "make love" with x or y, or merely erotic love, and certainly not in the sense that the highest attribute of the divine is love. And the reason is that gemli, despite his not having a demonic disposition, still flatly rejects God's love. In addition, I don't think that you are in a position to say who God will find acceptable.

https://www.patheos.com/blogs/danpeters ... 4933225544
Come on, really? If you don’t believe in god, then love is only “erotic”? Although I did see him say that because gemli doesn’t believe in god he doesn’t know why rape is wrong, so I suppose this convoluted nonsense is more of the same.

I'm not sure how to classify this, but Big Baby Lyin' Lou Midgley seems to think Trump is simply "gregarious" with women:

"I will now also add that Trump has shown himself as what you describe as "fairly gregarious" especially with various women, though not so much with his current trophy wife."

I think it's worth pointing out that Trump now has 25 women accusing him of sexual assault:

https://www.businessinsider.com/women-a ... st-2017-12

This is in addition to his statements about various women that are anything but "gregarious":

https://theweek.com/articles/655770/61- ... bout-women

And we also have, under sworn testimony, Ivanka Trump revealing that Trump RAPED her.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Tr ... llegations

Gregarious!

BYU professor. Mormon priesthood holder. Stolen valor. Tone deaf idiot.

What astounds me when I read some of the shenanigans of the LDS apologists from years ago, (as Lemmie quoted Dr. Midgley's description of his and Dr. Peterson's 'contributions' on some Protestant board back in what was probably their "hay day") ... is that they were almost certainly more concerned then, about being 'right' and about being 'clever' than about being kind, loving, respectful etc. Well, actually, that's not what surprises me. (And who can fault people being misguided ... I certainly can't!) What is shocking is that they seem to have not learned much, nor 'grown' in Christian awareness and Christian character in these many intervening years ... though Dr. Midgley does like to talk about learning during this mortal probation, and about being here on earth for purposes of sanctification.

Dr. Peterson often notes how he is uniquely vilified (and now he has Dr. Midgley sharing some of that rarified space). Does he really not see that there are many LDS thinkers, writers, educators, and even apologists ... who are genuinely liked, appreciated and respected? So many committed LDS advocates who don't draw negative feedback, but who are accepted for being the decent, intelligent individuals they are, despite fundamential disagreement in approach and interpretations, if not in core beliefs.

Does he (and do LCM and Kiwi57) not realize that the way they've treated people has made all the difference?

I realize that I'm beating a very old drum as I make these observations, but .... but what?? Maybe, "hope reigns eternal".

Can somebody with a greater imagination than I possess tell me why Midgley would troll an evangelical counter-cult forum as a Maori? What on earth is the connection?
Paloma wrote:is that they were almost certainly more concerned then, about being 'right' and about being 'clever' than about being kind, loving,
Exactly. When the apologists argue for God and Christian love as something impossible to achieve with secularism, could they point to one or two of their own posts as examples of this love in action, that just isn't possible for secularists?

For the same reason Ajax18, a racist and faithful Mormon, posts as Maxine Waters.

It's absolutely shameful: it amounts to a kind of "cyber-minstrelsy." If Midgley was looking to defuse criticism that he has problems with racism, he has just set himself back quite a ways.

gemli did IT work at a Roman Catholic college. He also claims to have created a little program for libraries to keep track of books on loan. And he also has claimed to have some books by at least the so-called "new atheists." He may have read some of them. But intellectual history? Never?
Hence all that gemli blather about thousands of Gods and hundreds of religions (with that vague word undefined, of course) in which each contradicts all the others in every possible way. Where is his evidence? Of course, one does not need evidence when one merely worships science.

And, since gemli did IT work for a living, he ought to have been able to google White to discover his credentials. Could we conclude that gemli gives atheism a bad name?

https://www.patheos.com/blogs/danpeters ... 4934063967
No. But we absolutely have concluded that Louis Midgley gives Louis Midgley a very, very bad name.

Somewhat reminiscent of when Maori Kemara and Sista Soul showed up on the old MAD board thread Apostle of Color to do battle with God is My Refuge. It made sense at that time as an apologetic weapon. Kevin Graham and others thought that Kemara was actually Pahoran and Sista Soul was a friend of Juliann. Anyway, the designated mission at that time was to show that God did not wish there to be a person of color in the Brethren.

Oh come on. Midgley can not possibly be this lacking in self awareness. Can he? Does Midgley really think his Spit-or-swallow outhouse sniffing and rotting meat wad comments are considered “seemly”??
