I wonder if JG would complain if someone simply told her to shut the -fuck up? Somehow, I can easily imagine she would get quite upset or, perhaps not. But it's more easy to imagine her getting pretty ticked about it. JG can be pretty tough.

What if several posters on the board told her to shut the -fuck up when she said something that appeared weird or disconnected? How would she handle that?

If someone on the board told me to shut the f*** up, I'd laugh about it. That's how I'd respond.

If someone told me that my words made me appear disconnected or weird, I would ask "How?"

And then I would consider what they had to say via a reflective process.

Take a look at Shades response...

I'm being honest.

Here's a social cue for you: If my comments make me look disconnected and weird, say THAT first and just skip over the "Shades honey, shut the f*** up" part. You'll come across as much more stable, reasonable, and mature that way.

He didn't ask how his comments make him look disconnected and weird. He didn't ask why. He simply knocked out a knee jerk come back to my remarks.

Then don't expect it of me, Paul.

I'm not at all convinced about your first declaration but the others seem fine.

Paul...I'm not from Utah, I'm not from Texas and I'm not from the Deep South.

I'm from Jersey.

I would NEVER take that as an insult. I would take that as friendly banter or in some cases, a clue that I was going off like a bottle rocket, saying too much, or what have you, never shutting up. Not a problem for me.

Please.

Paul...I've even written on boards, "and now I'm going to shut the f*** up". It means virtually nothing that requires a knee jerk response.

And now, Paul, I'm going to shut the f*** up and go sew paper.

Yes, I really am.

:-)

So..."Holy f*****g hell I need to bleach my eyes now" and "f*** me" included real criticism?

No. They were merely descriptions of reactions. They were not impetuous, bossy commands--like yours was.

Cam,

I would venture a solid guess that Shades also thought it was funny. I can't read his mind though...

Yes, I thought it was funny. The entire object of my post was to catch people off-guard and make them laugh.

And "Shades honey, shut the f*** up" ISN'T a knee-jerk comeback? Wow. Just, . . . wow.

Well, here out west, "shut the f*** up" is most definitely considered an insult. It's about as far away from "friendly banter" as humanly possible.

Jersey,

Thank you for being civil toward me. I hope we can bury the hatchet. ;)
