In 1954 Reuben J. Clark gave an address to seminary and institute employees on the subject, "When Are the Writings and Sermons of Church Leaders Entitled to the Claim of Scripture?" The title itself interested me, because it claims to answer the question, "When is something scripture?" This should have lots of relevance because it is related to the question, "What is official doctrine?" a question that pops up during almost any dialogue between critics and apologists. Then I figured out why it isn't cited for that purpose much. If you go down to the first column on page 4 of the pdf, you find this paragraph:

Ruh roh.

Thankfully, just 'talking as a man' and not god inspired. After all, god is perfect, knows better, and therefore could not have been behind J Reuben's brain fart claim.

ETA: Imagine the celebration for the future and the anger at the past, lost opportunities when it is ultimately revealed that elohim was behind the writing of the Joy of Sex and not the Miracle of Foregiveness.
