A new Radio Free Mormon podcast went up yesterday dealing with this issue.

https://mormondiscussionpodcast.org/201 ... uppressed/

I had to do a lot of digging in the Joseph Smith Papers Project, among other sources, but eventually think I may have managed to contribute something to the discussion.

Enjoy!

So this Joshua the Jewish Minister had a lot in common with Joseph Smith. Maybe too much in common, since they both ended their meeting by denouncing the other, and calling each other Satanic!

I'm glad you posted this thread to your new podcast which I listened to just a little while ago. Great job.

I laughed when you felt a little sorry for Joseph Fielding Smith for sitting on the document all that time only to have others come along and publish it! What a chump.

Poor Joseph Fielding Smith -- he took a hit for Joseph Smith who just so happens to be the one who is guilty for this whole damn mess in the first place.

Poor Joseph Fielding Smith. I feel sorry for him too!

Easy come and easy go!

Okay, this particular episode has a downside but there isn't much you can do about it because they are only audio podcasts. The absence of a video presentation pretty much makes this episode too hard to follow, even for me! It's just too much information -- too fast to take in without the aid of visual effects to assist an already overloaded brain. You're going to have to SLOW down a bit when presenting so much so fast.

Otherwise, the content and information is great but it's too much too fast even for me. Someone who isn't familiar with the content and Mormon terms will be lost trying to keep up and follow along. That's not what your trying to accomplish, RFM. So slow down, sip coffee or beer between breaths or take a drag from a tobacco product in order to allow listeners to keep up. It's okay to pause here and there.

Shulem, have you tried drinking Satan's favorite beverage, coffee? It is known to speed up the mind. A couple shots of espresso have worked wonders for my ability to follow RFM podcasts.

I'd like to bear my testimony that coffee is true!

And here I was worried it would be too boring because I was repeating myself so much!

It's okay to repeat things because that how you really get the message across. That's what Trump does, he keeps repeating himself every time he says something and his followers believe everything he says.

But damn, man, this was a fast moving podcast this time around. It was like being on a roller coaster.

I agree it might have been helpful if it were in writing with footnotes, and/or with images attached to help with understanding.

I do think the Bobby Sherman song at the end was inspired.
