As I write this, 18 fatalities, but that may not be the final number.

Early reports state a man in camouflage cargo shorts, wearing ear protectors, started shooting people in the parking lot, then walked into the store and continued shooting.

Police have the suspect in custody, extraordinarily rare in these cases.

Yeah, Patrick Crusius, a white man.

So, you know, obviously he's mentally ill.

The fact that he's white was the first clue. The fact that he's a Trump fan is the second clue.

CNN reports the FBI is opening an anti-terror investigation. The suspect is being linked with anti-immigrant postings on 4chan, the same site where Brenton Tarrant, the terrorist responsible for the Christchurch Mosque massacre, made his postings.

The suspect lived in Allen, a wealthy suburb north of Dallas. It's over 600 miles from Allen to El Paso, a Mexican border town where many Mexican Nationals cross the border to shop.

Mexican President Obrado says three Mexican nationals were killed in the massacre. Six Mexican nationals were wounded.

The last known residence of the man being driven to extinction by the foreign hordes:

Image

So maybe some of you are thinking that this 21 year old man was motivated by the anti-immigrant feelings that have been the staple of Donald Trump's Twitter feed and campaign rallies. Patrick Crusius is happy to assure you this is not the case in his manifesto:

Quote:
My ideology has not changed for several years. My opinions on automation, immigration, and the rest predate Trump and his campaign for president. I putting this here because some people will blame the President or certain presidential candidates for the attack. This is not the case. I know that the media will probably call me a white supremacist anyway and blame Trump’s rhetoric. The media is infamous for fake news. Their reaction to this attack will likely just confirm that.

Whew! That's relief! Good to hear that nothing Trump has said done in the 925 days since his inauguration did anything to influence you. I never trust anyone whose political philosophy wasn't fully formed before their 19th birthday.

It was reported the killer posted a manifesto on 8chan, so I went there and got it. I recommend reading it so you can understand the mindset that's starting to spread among this demographic:

https://media.8ch.net/file_store/7e1363 ... d39934.pdf

Granted, I didn't read the Christchurch killer's manifesto, but I'd guess it was along the same lines. Radicalization can take many forms, and in this instance it's interesting to see how Internet echo chambers have created an extreme form of absurdist nihilism. As this latest manifestation of social cancer metastasizes, I think we'll see a few dozen more of these before it tapers off a bit. I certainly don't think it'll get better because we don't have the collective will to forge a society that limits access to these weapons while simultaneously promoting the structure that ensures young men don't become alienated.

"Today’s shooting in El Paso, Texas was not only tragic, it was an act of cowardice," he tweeted. "I know that I stand with everyone in this Country to condemn today’s hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people." ~ Donald Trump

Snowflake Nationalist says:
Quote:
”The media is infamous for fake news. Their reaction to this attack will likely just confirm that”.

Investigators also note:

Authorities think the gunman posted a manifesto listing “the Hispanic invasion of Texas” as one of several motivations for the massacre

Two observations:

1. Dumbarse nationalist terrorist is woefully ignorant of the history of Texas.

2. Seeing as that Trump is the fellow who insisted on purposefully misusing the term, ‘Fake News’, and applying it to any media that Trump personally dislikes, it follows that dumbarse nationalist terrorist’s comment and attempted cover here tips his hand in demonstrating that our Dog Whistler-in-Chief did indeed influence his asinine proclivities.

And we have no one from out of Silicon Valley who is willing to put the brakes on these so-called Internet echo chambers.

You can't go to school.
You can't go to work.
You can't go to a community festival.
You can't go see a concert in Vegas.

And you can't go to ____ Walmart.

“America is under attack from homegrown white nationalist terrorism,” he said. “White nationalism is evil. And it is inspiring people to commit murder, and it is being condoned at the highest levels of the American government, and that has to end.” ~ Peter Buttegieg

How exactly do you think it's going to taper off without action? You know, honor made a post this past week about Trump not being the cause but the symptom of what's going on in America or even the world. He's not the symptom. He's become the pin up girl for it in much the same way that Farrah Fawcett was a pin up girl back in the 70's or 80's or whenever her poster came out.

Only instead of being the pin up girl for beauty, Trump is the pin up girl for ugly and outliers are eating it up for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm sorry they're outliers. I did a whole thing on mental illness earlier. Certainly isolation and a sense of disconnect is a piece of this. But they are outliers who get off on it because Trump has glamorized ugly.

And our gun laws, our apathy about mental health, and the Internet apparently allows it a place to grow.

You can't even go to Walmart in the United States without worrying that someone is going to shoot your ____ up.

It's not going to taper off any time soon.

I was just looking for the exact type of weapon that was used and came across
Beto O'Rourke again.

Quote:
Asked if the shooting was Trump’s fault for inflaming hatred, he said “yes”.

“We’ve had a rise in hate crimes every single one of the last three years during an administration where you have a president who has called Mexicans rapists and criminals, though Mexican immigrants commit crimes at a far lower rate than people born in this country.

“He has tried to make us afraid of them … attempting to ban all Muslims from this country. The day that he signed that executive order the mosque in Victoria, Texas was burned to the ground. Those chants that we heard in Greenville North Carolina – ‘send her back’ – talking about fellow American citizens duly elected to represent their constituents in Congress …

“He is a racist. He is stoking racism in this country ... and it fundamentally changes the character of the country and leads to violence.”

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/201 ... o-shooting

Stoking racism. Yeah. Exactly.

More from the same link...

Quote:
O’Rourke, who said he was proud of the way El Pasoans were “standing up” for the victims of the shooting, also said more effort must be made to bring about reform of the country’s gun laws.

“We must make sure that we change our laws so we make it harder for this to happen again. We must ask ourselves about the level of hatred and racism that we’re seeing in this country right now that could lead to an event like we saw here today and that’s on all of us to call out and stop.”

Speaking in Las Vegas earlier, O’Rourke said the US may require direct action, urgency and in some cases nonviolent civil disobedience, to make real change.

“I believe in this country. I believe, at the end of the day, we’re going to be able to get this done,” he said, “but it’s going to be because of those people who force it to get done.”

Bernie Sanders, who was with O’Rourke and 17 other Democratic hopefuls to address a union meeting in Las Vegas earlier on Saturday, said: “It’s not just today, it has happened several times this week. It’s happened here in Las Vegas where some lunatic killed some 50 odd people,”the Vermont senator said.

“All over the world, people are looking at the United States and wondering what is going on? What is the mental health situation in America, where time after time, after time, after time, we’re seeing indescribable horror.”

Sanders blasted Republican Senate leadership for being more concerned about pleasing the gun lobby than “listening to the vast majority of the American people” . He said Trump had a responsibility to support commonsense gun safety legislation.

California senator Kamala Harris promised to use an executive action within her first 100 days of taking office to impose gun control while New Jersey senator Cory Booker said: “This has got to be a movement, politics or not, we’ve got to make ending this nightmare a movement before it happens to yet another community or another person dies.”

Joe Biden said the gun violence was “beyond anything that we should be tolerating”. He added: “We can beat the NRA. We can beat the gun manufacturers.”

Quote:
Later Saturday night, Trump tweeted condolences. “Today’s shooting in El Paso, Texas was not only tragic, it was an act of cowardice. I know that I stand with everyone in this Country to condemn today’s hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people. Melania and I send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the great people of Texas.”

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/201 ... o-shooting

You've committed hateful acts every day of your time in office. Heartfelt? Sir, you have no heart. No heart and no conscience. You shameful bastard. Cowardice? You cowarded your way out of serving this country in the armed forces, you have no business leading it.

Well, that was certainly covering the old Trumpian tracks. Now on to spew some hot lead in the name of non-Trumpian anti-immigration!

He says this in the same piece that wistfully argues the last best solution probably is breaking the US into independent territories for different races in order to prevent “race-mixing” and promote cultural unity.

All Americans stand united in this time of tragedy. Hearts and prayers to the victims. We gotta do something about this. Someday.

by the way, if there was any doubt as to the motivation of the shooter, ABC news reports El Paso police said the suspect told them his objective was to kill as many Mexicans as possible.

I hadn't seen it since it came out, so I watched Idiocracy yesterday.

It was sad how much more realistic it seemed yesterday than when I first watched it. It's alarmingly prescient.

No. I'm saying ____ you to him for being the pin up girl that glamorizes hate. I wrote about this in a separate post. Not sure which thread at this point.
