It's amazing how the art of anime can shape real life.

Rockslider:

Having viewed your videos, I think I see the problem. You're under the impression that "less technology" = "superior," because reasons. Sort of like how the Amish view a horse and buggy as superior to a Lamborghini Coutach, for no other reason than the horse and buggy incorporates less technology. Simply put, you are the Amish of music.

Even so, let's examine the videos you posted:

Well, dozen's come to mind. Let's start with two sisters that have more musical talent in their little finger than your tween stars:

"Tween stars?" Dude, they're each 29 years old. T-w-e-n-t-y n-i-n-e.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u-PjvRyr0I

Check out some real female vocal talent.

??? Their voices are lower than Perfume's, nothing more. Since when does "lower" = "better?"

Some more adult female vocals:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vatvUREAPY0

Ruined by that insufferable banjo twanging in the background.

But she's singing through her nose. Say what you will about Perfume, at least they sing through their mouths. . . the way God or evolution intended.

No lasers/fancy lights, synthesized music, the real thing.

Oh. So, if there's a light or two on in the background, good singing magically transforms into bad singing? I'm intrigued; please explain how.

Pick anyone of these performers, sweet female vocals along with a nice male vocal/guitar.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvEZUbz ... rt_radio=1

No better than Perfume.

Ruined by the inclusion of a sole acoustic guitar, the second most douchebaggy instrument in existence. . . after the bongo drums, of course.

want me to keep going?

Umm, no. Please refrain from further defiling this thread.

What makes you think so? Heavy metal and electro-pop are completely different genres.

Jersey Girl wrote:Shades, NO!! [. . .] I beg you do NOT invite further contamination of this thread! [. . .] Please, for the love of all that matters, please split off these horrifying posts to their own thread until all that remains is Perfume Perfection!

You have the correct opinion, but I'm not comfortable with a thread existing whose entire purpose is to criticize Perfume.

As is so often the case, your wish is my command:

Rockslider, since you aren't convinced of the superiority of Perfume's voices on their own merits, here are two examples of their voices without any technological enhancements other than microphones. Watch and learn:

Let's be honest. Adding metal to this is like adding jalapenos to Hawaiian pizza.

It's just meant to be.

With all possible respect, this thread is about Perfume, not Babymetal.

If you wish to post links about Babymetal, feel free to start a new thread.

A mini-documentary about PERFUME--in English!

Post by _Dr. Shades »

Dear Perfumaniacs:

Here's a 17 minute, 34 second mini-documentary about Perfume, narrated in English. All instances of Japanese are subtitled. In it, the members begin by recounting the group's original formation in Hiroshima, them move on to the early years wherein the producer, the choreographer, and the stage designer come onboard, then progress to their ever-growing popularity overseas. Have a look:

If you don't have time to watch the whole thing, I recommend staring at the 8-minute mark to see their triumphant arrival in the Taipei International Airport as they kick off the first leg of their first international tour.

ENJOY!!

Dear fellow Perfumaniacs,

Here's their second commercial for Panasonic's side-loading washing machines:

This video got well over one million views in only two days. Impressive, wouldn't you say?

(An alternate version showing all three of them at once is here.)
