Judge frees innocent man after 45 years in prison

The state's case against Jones was based entirely on the victim's testimony and "questionable identification" the judge said.

If you poke around the legal system, you’re going to find some really discouraging stuff. If you read up on the work done by the innocence project, you’re going to find some pretty shocking convictions of innocent people. It caused me to change my position on the death penalty — far too many innocent people end up on death row.

One important thing in this case: the police withheld exculpatory evidence. Had that not happened, he’d likely still be in prison.
