This is something I wrote...*closes eyes and hits submit*

Renewal by just me

She reached in and turned the cool, metal knob to the left until a warm jet of water sprayed out of the shower head.

She stepped into the shower stall and shut the glass door until she heard it click gently. A smile played on her lips as steam licked at the glass walls, fogging them up. She moved under the spray of water and turned away from it to get her hair wet. She stroked her long hair until it was fully saturated; listening as the water cascaded down in thick ropes and hit the floor of the shower.

She turned back around and grabbed the bottle of shampoo. The scent of oranges and vanilla filled her nose as soon as she popped open the lid. She closed her eyes for a moment and inhaled deeply. With a contended sigh she squeezed a small amount of the shampoo into the palm of her hand. Once she had set the bottle back in its nook she slowly rubbed her palms together and ran them through her hair.

She let out a small moan as she gently massaged the shampoo into her hair building up a rich lather. Her fingertips rubbed circles into her scalp, behind her ears and down her neck. She hummed happily and turned around to rinse the suds from her hair. When the water ran clear she took down the bottle of conditioner and applied a generous amount to her tresses. She loved the way the slick stuff felt being rubbed into her hair.

She passed her hands under the spray of water and grabbed the facial cleanser. She squeezed a pea size amount onto her fingers and rubbed them together to spread the substance and then rubbed her fingers over her cheeks and nose and forehead. She felt the skin of her face tingle from the treatment. She held her breath and closed her eyes before putting her face in the spray of the water to rinse of the cleanser.

She pulled down the can of shaving cream and squirted a bit of the foam into her hand. Lifting her other arm high she dabbed the foam to her armpit, repeating on the other side. She swiped the razor under her arms with a practiced hand.

Razor still in hand, she picked up the shaving cream and sat down on the hard shower floor. The can belched out a long pfffffft as her hand filled with foam. She stretched her ivory legs out in front of her and rubbed the foam from ankle to the top of her thighs. She systematically rid her legs of the foam with care not to nick her kneecaps. She took a moment to slide her hands up and down her legs checking for any spots she may have missed. Satisfied with the results she hugged her legs to her chest before slowly standing up.

She returned the razor and shaving cream to their shelf and picked up the soft, white washcloth and spicy handmade soap. She felt color flood to her cheeks as she thought of the last time she had used the soap. A wicked grin spread across her face and she suppressed a giggle. She scrubbed the soap across the fibers of the cloth until it was full of frothy suds. She tilted her head back under the spray letting the conditioner rinse out as she lifted the washcloth to her neck. She massaged circles over her neck and shoulders working her way lower with each swipe. She massaged her breasts and under her arms. She scrubbed down across her ribs and firm, smooth stomach dipping in to her bellybutton. She folded the cloth in half and snaked it softly between her legs. She rinsed the cloth out and dropped it to the floor.

She twisted and turned under the spray watching as the bubbles slid down her skin to the drain below taking all her troubles them.

She wrapped herself in a towel and stepped out of the shower feeling renewed and ready to face the world.

VERY steamy, just me! I'm hoping your next post will include visuals :).

Z, you amaze me more with every image you post. You do have talent! Love the composition.

I do this stuff for a living (illustration, not art).

Here's the rest if your interested... a current project.

This is the last watercolor I did. I was not real happy with it so I turned it into a license plate.

I love all of them! Thanks for sharing, you guys!

Quasi, are those for a manual or something? Oh, and maybe you can provide the visuals...I have yet to take up drawing.

Those are for a patent application and instructive illustrations for a new wrist joint prosthesis.

I'm happy to provide the visuals. Of course, you will need to pose for the illustrations. :D

Quasi,
what software and tools (tablet etc) are you using?

Thanks for the question, SteelHead. I used CorelDraw on these. I use Illustrator on many things, but I prefer Corel (a long story). I use a PC to do my work. I have a mac, but I started doing my illustrations with a PC (for clients in Europe) and I just got used to it (we're going back many years here).

I draw using a mouse (as opposed to a tablet). I started doing this long before those things were invented. Kinda stuck in my ways, I guess.

Dang you are doing that with a mouse?

Ok, I am impressed.

Don't be too impressed. Corel (and Illustrator) are a vector programs. Very different from Phototshop, etc. It's more like sculpture than drawing. Using a mouse to form the shapes that you need is pretty easy.

Most of these were done around 20 years ago, give or take, with exceptions noted. This is an EXTREMELY small sample of the stuff I've done over the years, consisting only of some of my favorites. The vast majority of all the art I've done has either gotten lost or found its way into the trash can, one of the two.

I was also the cartoonist for my High School newspaper during my senior year, but those count as cartoons (by definition) rather than illustrations, so I didn't bother scanning any of them. I'm sort of worn out from all the scanning, resizing, uploading, etc., so I don't really feel like tackling those anyway.

As you view these, keep in mind that NONE of them were traced, copied, etc., and never at any time did I use a model. ALL of these are 100% freehand.

Anyway, here's the first example. On my mission one day I got the urge to doodle and reached for the first empty page I could find. I swear I didn't notice the header at the top until later:

Image

Here's another picture I drew when I got the urge to draw something. This was about the time I got really interested in World War II. I wasn't planning on churning out anything worthwhile, hence the classroom-style ruled paper as the medium. What do you know, it turned out to be one of my favorites:

Image

I did this one back in High School one day when I was waiting for Algebra II to end. Another one on ruled paper that, lo and behold, turned out pretty well:

Image

Just like the previous two, I did the next two when I was High School-age as well. I began liking the idea of a military aircraft with rear-mounted, forward-swept wings. Here's the result:

Image

This one was done after I honed the design a little better:

Image

This is one of my rare colored drawings. I dreamed up a fictional dictator that always kept his face veiled so he could move about unhindered if necessary. As part of the backstory, for his crimes against humanity, he was crucified rather than hanged:

Image

This is my oldest one. I probably did it no later than ninth grade, which would've put it at 1983-1984 at the latest. Back then I was still into Dungeons & Dragons. Here's a fictional (obviously) female half-elf thief escaping the authorities by leaping from roof-to-roof. Admittedly, not one of my better examples:

Image

This is a picture of what I envisioned that a footsoldier in the 2040's might look like. He's holding a flamethrower and, although it's hard to see in this scan, he's shooting fire:

Image

These next few are far, far more recent. Back in 2005 or so, Keene and Bryan Inks commissioned me to create some T-shirt designs for them. This is for their shirt called "Jesus Loves You:"

Image

This next one is for their T-shirt called (what else) "Hold To The Rod:"

Image

I can't remember what T-shirt this was supposed to go to, but it's obviously Jesus on the cross. I thought that they could generate a much better cross on the computer than I could freehand, so I left that part (and the actual nails) out. I unfortunately drew it too big, so I couldn't fit His feet at the bottom, so I drew them off to the side so that Keene & Bryan could copy-and-paste them into place later:

Image

This is for their shirt called "My God Can Beat Up Your God." It features, of course, Cthulhu and Jesus:

Image

Saving the best for last, this is a cutaway of my finest drawing ever, done back in late May of 1988. It's part of a much larger, 13 x 20 sheet, but unfortunately my scanner can only pick up a little over 9 x 11. Therefore, I had to fold the remainder over the sides, so the cover couldn't quite shut and thus a lot of light crept in. Hence the reason it's darker and quite a bit blurrier than the others.

Maybe I should use a copy machine and reduce the whole thing to a scannable size, since so much of the detail got cut from this image. The background is a World War I battlefield, and all the battlefield detrius in the original is missing: The trenches, the sandbags and barbed wire, the knocked-out tanks, the half-buried skulls, helmets, and gas masks, etc.

That said, here's my masterpiece:

Image

I hope you liked them!

Here's an excerpt from a relatively unknown author who lived in the 1800's.....

Quote:
1 I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days.

2 Yea, I make a record in the language of my father, which consists of the learning of the Jews and the language of the Egyptians.

His name was Joe.
His work developed over time but is probably a bit too racy for this forum...

At this moment, I could pose for the illustrations of a fixed splintery fracture of a left ankle.

Fortunately, my surgeon doctor studied enough Your illustrator colleagues' works (and real, bleeding tissues...).
I have no problem but this bed-ridden status. I have four weeks plastered yet...

I am looking for a cover for my book. I am thinking of a subtle satire that TBM's wouldn't get. I have already asked zeez and Quasi to work on ideas.

My idea is based on these:

http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&sa=X ... gCw&zoom=1

http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&sa=X ... ZCw&zoom=1

https://encrypted-tbn0.google.com/image ... vsRKAdjJ9X

background a cover made from a grocery sack, with the sunstone, with the face made to look a bit more like Joseph Smith.

However, you can all participate in the competition. And work on your own ideas. Those who haven't read it can pretty well get the idea from my posts.

The title is "A re-Evaluation of Mormonism" Author Mary Baker.

I am waiting for an ILL book, then I need to get a copyright on the book, then do a few more things, so while I wait, let's open up the competition.

JM, I liked your little creation. I was expecting a lesbian shower, with all the "she's" LOL.

Ouch!!!! How did that happen, ludwigm? Which of your ankle bones did you fracture?

Ankle fractures are tricky things. Take care of yourself.

This is all so great. Thank you!

I'm working in a sweatshop, LOL. I'm working on a Reese's peanut butter cup right now for my son. It's in pastels. I'm doing dinosaurs and racecars. I found charcoal yesterday. Amazing stuff! My son is whining. Back to work! This is supposed to be vacation.
