Boy, what a dumb move. You can tell the church is run by old fogies. How stupid could they get? This name is not going to catch on. It's too long and a tad confusing seeing it's an effort to rebrand and simply trick the public mind into thinking something different. The public won't be fooled. The Mormon choir is the Mormon choir, always has been and always will be. This name change is a stupid PR move. The church is embarrassed by the name "Mormon", I can appreciate that. The I'M A Mormon campaign was a flop and Mormon leaders today are ashamed of the name. The smart move would have been to rename the choir in simple terms:

The Tabernacle Choir.

Stupid Mormons. From Nelson on down. It's a pleasure watching this church implode.

You should have told them. That makes much more sense.

“The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square in Moscow”...
Could be confusing people who have tickets roaming the streets of Moscow searching frantically in vain for a “square temple.” Then again - as I see the billboard marketing signs on I-15 to visit Temple Square and City Creek mall - the name change could be a savvy marketing move.

Listening to Nelson try to sell this ridiculous move... saying “if this were a man-made church it would be needless to change the name.” Well, it is man-made. Christ didn’t rob from the poor and teach cult mentality. Christ wasn’t about building up a corporate empire & wouod wip those who used his name for such greedy corruption. They want to use Jesus Christ’s name in vain even more than they have.

Still wrong. After the addition of Main Street in the Sweetheart theft from SLC it became "Temple Rectangle".

The smart move would have been to rename the choir in simple terms:

The Tabernacle Choir.

Fascinating, something I can actually agree with you on.

However, I suspect that the brethren have more "vision" than you or I, because I suspect there were actually be "other" Tabernacle Choirs in the future, so the addition of "at Temple Square" might actually be the correct name.

I remember when I didn't actually like the change to the "formatting" of the name of the church.
Turns out, it was visionary.
