Next revelation - arranged marriages?

Post by _Sanctorian »

From the press conference today

Pres Oaks said that marriage is a way to retain millennials in the church. He said that when #Mormon millennials marry, they are strengthened and remain in the faith at higher rates.

I don’t see a comment referring to arranged marriages here. The Church has always stated that it is better for members of the same faith to marry.

I suppose that if Oaks was to branch off from this and say something like “Patents are encouraged to pre-arrange marriages of their offspring to other member offspring, then we would really have a story here. I’m just not seeing anything in his current statement that is expressing arranged marriages. Is there more that is not listed here that I’m missing?
So you're chasing around a fly and in your world, I'm the idiot?

I was being a little facetious in the OP. But, don’t be surprised if you hear more “marry as soon as possible and start families” talks.

No, THAT IS EXACTLY what Oaks is intimating. Strong Stock of the Pioneers Members marrying Strong Stock of the Pioneers Members = Strong Members.

OR White and Delightsome marrying White and Delightsome = White and Delightsome White Guy and Gal True Church

what an idiot. Marriage constrains choice for anyone who gets married. when millennials marry, they are more likely to be mentally imprisoned; afraid to talk about their doubts because of the much higher stakes.

Perfect recipe for sex starved Mormon men who can't stop jacking off to porn during sunday meetings on their smartphones in in the church restrooms.

I think the first big thing to expect from the new three stooges is the canonization of the Proclamation on the Family.

I agree. It'll be an orgy of retrenchment and corporate revelation.

Yes, and it hasn’t been working. Marriage age continues to steadily rise. Good luck with that.
