I attend Sacrament Meeting with them on occasion. I also hold a calling. I'm the Ward Employment Specialist and have helped quite a few folks get jobs. I do what I want. Commit only the time I choose to commit. And the bishop stays completely out of my personal life.

I think that a lot of even very faithful members end up in a burn out situation. You give and give and give. You're working 40 hours a week and easily spending an additional 40 hours a week on Church callings and/or activities. After a while, you just get..tired.

I'm glad to know you are doing well, Liz. You're a good person and the church is blessed to have you in their midst. You're a force for good.

Thanks, Paul. Glad you're doing well, too. Frankly, if the bishop DID bother to interview me, and I chose to be honest, I would probably be excommunicated considering that most Sundays I still tend to spend in bed with my fiance. LOL

But I did sing at a Ward talent show the other week and had a good time. I'm just at the point where I figure that I'm entitled to be happy...and what I do in my sex life is between me, my fiance, and God.

I also went through this site right after the November policy announcement.

I actually came very close to doing that. I basically decided to take the inactive for the most part route. I didn't want to completely disassociate myself with the Church because the Church has basically been a good anchor for my son, particularly since the divorce. However, he has very similar views to mine. In Everybody Wang Chung's thread about addiction, you can read a conversation I discussed between my son and me.

Sounds fine. Just consider the church as a country club and a place to go and smile and meet people. Do every thing on your terms and be in total control. It must be somewhat humorous being in there knowing it's a total hoax. People need something to believe in and keep them going.

Have fun at the club.

That's it, shut'em down. They're falling apart!

Yes inactive Mormons outnumber active Mormons 2 to 1. There are 10+ million of them. And some of these inactive Mormons find continued association with the LDS church so offensive they go through the difficult process of resignation. Among those, 22 thousand people have used this lawyers services in the past 18 months.

Think about that for a second. The LDS church makes is so difficult to leave that people have had to turn to the services of a lawyer to actually leave the religion so they don't have to attend a "court of love". It's like an abusive relationship where the abuser says "I only hit you because I love you".

QuitMormon becomes the proverbial restraining order in the relationship that compels the offending party to stay away.
