I'm sure it's due to the 50 or 60% (or so) of people that aren't active Mormons.

I was surprised that 16 missionaries with myldsmail.net accounts, at least two BYU employees used their college office address when paying with their credit cards and 35 BYU students were stupid enough to sign up with those accounts. In the whole of Utah there were over 70,000 credit card transactions and I have no doubt a huge majority of them are active, church attending Mormons who probably look down on their less active relatives, judge other members with tattoos or piercings and wouldn't even dream of drinking tea, coffee or alcohol; that's twisted morality if ever there was any.

I wonder if they are discovered if they will use similar "carefully worded denials" to the ones employed by Joseph Smith? I'm sure mingling with Gods he is smiling down on his latter-day followers.

What's even funnier is there are almost no women on the site. They are being catfished or chatting with a bot.

"The Ashley Madison hack will have a serious effect on churches. According to Ed Stetzer, as many as 400 pastors, deacons, elders and church staff members may resign this Sunday after their names surfaced on the list of users revealed in the Ashley Madison hack."

Very true, the level of fraud involved with a site like this is quite comical, but it also means that the Mormon women who were signed up to this site and were looking to cheat probably were having a whole lot of adulterous extramarital sex, like the female BYU employee who paid with her credit card or the returned sister missionary who signed up while she was studying at BYU.

*ETA: There are a huge number of closeted gay people using this site meaning the ratio of women wouldn't make a difference to that and I'm sure the repression that Mormon religion and culture encourages only fuels that.

If the thousands of Mormons including missionaries, BYU employees and local members receive church discipline then this single hack will cause some quite significant shock waves within Mormonism alone. I wonder if the Strengthening Church Members Committee is there trawling through this data to decide whether to take action against adulterous members?

Considering the fact Denver Snuffer, Kate Kelly and John Dehlin are supposedly deserving of Church discipline you'd think that those seeking extramarital affairs would be more so?

There was also a con going on with this site that involved regular customers receiving a "guarantee" that they would have sexual relations within a certain period of time. If any of these customers had thought about this they'd have realised that the only way that a site like this could guarantee something like this was through paying prostitutes to have sex at a cheaper rate than the guarantee they were offering.

The site has been linked to prostitution and a huge number of prostitutes have been highlighted through the data and the emails that have been leaked so far. The site is not only heavily implicated in fraud but also in human trafficking, some pretty sick stuff.

The SCMC might be afraid to trawl through the data. After all, how many GAs might they find?
