The article seems to indicate that abolishing polygamy in Turkey was one of the main reasons that country has been more moderate than other Muslim nations. There are never enough matches for couples in a polygamous society leading to males with nothing to do but fight. I wonder if China will have the same problem because of their one child policy which has led to a surplus of males. I think we see this on a mini-scale with the lost boys in Mormon fundamentalist sects. The LDS Church should never go back to polygamy if they wish to be a peaceful element of society.
