A young farm boy went digging treasure on an autumn night
Upon a hill he called Cumorah fearing ghostly fright
When all at once he struck a stone and opened up a box
He saw gold plates a lyin’ there among the dirt and rocks
An angel towered o’er him and said young boy now you read
The plates contain the gospel pure and people have a need
The boy replied dear angel I am not a learned man
The angel said don’t worry, ‘cos the Lord he has a plan

Yippie yi ooh
Yippie yi yay

I was thinking of trying to do that one but decided it would be too hard. You pulled it off!

Kish for some reason I missed the title and read your lyric to Devil Went Down to Georgia. It works pretty well!

It would be fun to hear a reading of the Book of Mormon before the great vowel shift.

In the meantime, we can content ourselves with playing the instrumental version and singing along:

Picture yourself with ghosts on a river
With committee trees and EmodE skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
It’s Peterson with kaleidoscope eyes.
Archaic constructions of yellow and green
Towering over your head
Look for Lehi with his fading dna
And it’s gone.

Ghosts are in the sky with diamonds
Midgley in the sky with diamonds
Skousen in the sky with diamonds, ahh

Transcript of interview with SisterMs. Rafferty*, after being abducted by The Ghost Committee:

Whaaatt?!? Well, it went a little differently for me, I can tell you that.

First of all, there were no fluffy clouds or happy cherubs. They locked me in a room with a typewriter and a voice recording and told me to get busy. Typing out those dumb king James phrases was a pain, no joke, and I did my best filling in the gaps but after a while, all I could think of was “and so it came to pass” so I think that might be in there maybe more than the voices intended.

When I asked for a break they said who do you think you are, a Priesthood Holder? Get typing. Committee, my ass. I wrote that thing, start to finish. Their ghost fingers kept getting caught in the keyboard, so naturally they needed a non-ghost relief society president to do the real work.

At least I’m not a primary president. I heard she had to help those Book of Abraham ghost channelers stitch together some papyrus pieces and look what a mess that turned out. Do the math next time, Lost Boys! The papyrus doesn’t fit!!!!

Anyway, it wasn’t my worst Wednesday Activity Night.

[end of recording.]

*all credit for this part goes to Kate McKinnon and her SNL sketch writers.

I haven't watched TV at all for about twenty years. I try to google enough about current shows, when I hear about them, to not be totally out of touch. I think I can generally pass for just being somewhat behind. YouTube is great for giving the best scenes in short clips. I'm aware that lots of stuff on TV is really great but I just found that for every great five minutes I generally watched an hour of mediocre stuff, and so far I haven't been convinced that the situation has changed. Once I'm in the TV-watching state I'm too passive to get up and do something else once the great scene is past; I sit there watching even when it's outright lousy in the hope that something good will still come. So I just don't start, and now I can't imagine how I could possibly fit two hours of TV per day into my life. My plan is to binge-watch the best stuff from four decades after I retire.

Anyway I looked up the Ms Rafferty sketches. I can see why the actors themselves couldn't keep straight faces.

"Committee, my ass!" has a ring of truth, though.
