Allow me, distinguished faculty, friends, and associates, to explain something. Holding a chair at the prestigious Cassius University would be an honor even Kings may not be worthy to step up to enjoy. I am accepting the open chair, however, in order to help cement the truth of deserving such an honor, I am working on a paper which, as a holder of a Cassius chair ought to be worthy and capable, stimulating and intellectually up to snuff, even though not all will agree with said contents, as it should be. Therefore, hopefully by sometime tonight I shall present my "acceptance speech" for the faculty and students of this grand university, which being affiliated with is a dream come true for me. But I must insist that I am accepted because of skills, knowledge, and capabilities rather than just good looks, though that qualification is far less likely. Therefore, I shall labor and endeavor to wrap up this pleasant task I have set for myself, and will continue, perhaps monthly, if not more so, to share the wealth of knowledge of revisionist history, sacred geometry and chess (I do believe that the chair is a multisensimodality conceptualization which does not eliminate the skills, desires, and joys with which I possess and love to share with the grand crowd while I breathe).

I have been in discussion and have agreed with the generous offer of a combined chairship, and have found donors, patrons, whatever they may wish to be called, who have agreed to combine chairship in this case. It shall be known as the Gordon B. Hinckley/John Michell/Jeremy Silman Chair of Revisionist History, Sacred Geometry, & Chess, which, by an amazing coincidence just happen to be three of the things I love the most in life, and thus am thrilled to be eligible for such an honor. I thank you all for kindnesses both unspoken and undeserved, and willingness to include me in the rubbing of shoulders of giants in our midst. I shall, henceforth, though I shall always be the Jr. tier of such scholarly greatness, do my golly-gosh-darndest to be worthy of such an affiliation of pedigree and verve. Long live Cassius University! And may the good Lord continue to bless us as we educate, illuminate, and checkmate those whom deserve it so richly.

This is fantastic news, Philo! Welcome! If there's ever a problem with funding, we can sell one of Scratch's many Gulfstreams.

(as many know, Doctor Scratch sometimes boards a plane just so that he can say he's writing a certain memo while en route, in style, to an important destination)

Thank you kindly for your generous welcome. I am intimidated out of my gourd about this new adventure but promise I shall rise to the occasion, and certainly, if it's not against university protocol, shall enjoy extra funding under the table from the legitimate sales of one of Scratch's Gulfstreams. That sounds entirely legit to me! I shall return tonight with my opening scholarly article salvo inaugurating my future tenure at Cassius University.

Is there somewhere I can read about your apostasy story?

Like what led to it? Was it alcohol, pornography, a divorce? If you don’t want to explain, can someone point me to where I can read about the demise of the beloved backyard professor?
