Joy to the World

Joy to the world and kingdom come; I have a need to sing!
Now my life is great, since I’m an apostate; it was the very thing, the most important thing, I guess that it was the only thing!

Rejoice! Rejoice when church is done; no more must I endure!
My Sundays are a joy, like I’m a little boy, no meetings was the cure, my weekends are now pure, it’s better, way better, oh that’s for sure!

No more will I, suffer from “friends” who make me work for love!
They never loved me; they wanted my money; I am no pure white dove, more like a spotted glove, but I still feel loved from up above.

I stood by while they took control; I let them mess with me,
My head was in the sand; I could not hear the band, denial was the key, must stress how it helped me, but now, I say, I’m truly free.

Don't make such terrible promises! I like your songs, Schmo, and Joy to the World is my favorite so far!

Write all the songs you like. They're funny. Even Will likes them! ;)

OK...since Schmo spoofed a Christmas carol, let me ask a question that really "bugs" me about the Church hymnal.

Why does the Church INSIST on changing the words to traditional Christmas carols?

I mean really..."And Saints and angels sing" instead of "And heaven and nature sing.."

What is the purpose?

As a singer and a music instructor, I have always found this extremely annoying.

End of rant.

Oh you have NO IDEA how much this bugged me!! I used to sing "heaven and nature" as loudly as possible.

Agreed! I think it's just one more example of the church's arrogance.

Heh. I remember asking my grandmother why they sang it wrong in Primary. "Oh you know how they are" was her explanation...

The changing of the words to the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" bugged me, too.

The MoTab did that, and later it was changed in the official hymn book.

Again, it is a BATTLE song.

"Let us die to make men holy. Let us DIE to make men free."

"Let is LIVE to make men free" makes NO SENSE!
