"[MODERATOR NOTE: Mocnarf, if you wish to have a picture of overt temple content as part of your signature line, you'll have to limit yourself to only posting in the Telestial Forum. Is that a limitation you're willing to accept?]"

Im new here and was reading these rules and was wondering what is overt temple content exactly? I've never heard that term before.

Have you "taken out your endowments" in an LDS temple? If so, then you may not reveal or discuss what you learned there in any forum other than the Telestial Forum.

In other words, the things you did and learned there are "overt temple content."

Dr. Shades,

I'm wondering if you approve of or are even aware of this moderator action taken:

http://www.mormondiscussions.com/phpBB3 ... w=previous

It seems very anti-free speech and not libertarian, as well as a textbook case of unnecessary censorship and MAD moderating.

Thanks in advance,

Soso

It is not about logic or truth or reality; in fact, it is not about what is best for the member or the membership. In my forty years around the LDS Church and my twenty-three years as a member, including my time in the bishopric it is not consistantly about anything but the ego of whatever LDS "leader" is making whatever proclaimation or revelation available to those who are to be controled at any given point in time. Consequently, there is no need for consistantsy so long as the statement works.

He or she does not have to concern themselves with logic or truth in a sub culture where you can simply accuse anyone who even asks a question a "leader" does not like of "murmering against the Church." And if they try to defend themselves with more logic or truth, ultimately you can excommunicate them. In fact, if they are telling the truth, it is even more important to discredit them--especially it they are still alive and able to continue enlightening their fellow man. Truth is a very contagious thing. If your house is built on a lie the "logic" comes in what effectively perpetuates the lie. Perception is reality.

That is a very hard thing to face because we keep wanting to place the Church in the psychological structure we built when we felt good about it, that time before the doubts began to creep in. We want to believe. We keep wanting to take responsibility for our alienation thinking if we had just faithfully and /or intelligently kept our concerns to ourself our brothers and sisters would still love us. But truth in the face of deception is a seed that grows in the genuine person's mind and heart. It is only in the heart of a deceiver that a lie can become a lifestyle.

Even if we say all psychological structure is a metaphor for reality and rationalize obvious Mormon deception as a positive metaphor that produced good fruits (That was my personal rationalation for getting up on the stand and knowing I was presenting things as true every third Sunday, that clearly were not. I told myself it was for the good of those listening.) sooner or later the truth will find itself out and the longer you cage it, the harder it is on yourself and those you lie to.

Thank you for that observation. I hope I have followed the rules; i am very new at this posting thing.

So, with PG-13, you get one unbleeped f-enheimer per movie, which I'd guess roughly translates to about 25 posts (just for the sake of argument). Is that cool? I'm not an out-and-out vulgarian, but the effusive fluid flavor of the occasional f-condiment is a favor that my soul doth savor.

Just checking. Happy to go with community norms. Trying to get the lay of this exotic land.

I'm curious what the different ranks are and at what post count do you achieve them. I see a lot of Gods after 1,000 posts. I am currently a Star B. I'm wondering what comes in between.

No.

At the top of this page, click on the word "Members." Then scroll down to the bottom of the page to where it says "Select sort method" and choose "Post count" from the drop-down menu. Then click the "Submit" button and you'll be able to see all the ranks as you click on each number at the bottom. An easy rule-of-thumb is that you advance in rank every 40 posts.

How about we add another rule for despicable cowards like subgenius.

How about we make it against the rules to disparage another person's wife and children and physical deficiencies.

Subgenius had done all of this in the span of less than an hour today because I made him look even more like an idiot than he already did.

I mean seriously, is there a good reason why people should be allowed to do this? There are already rules related to this such as:

Quote:
4. Do not "derail" threads or otherwise insert commentary that has nothing to do with a thread's opening post.

Calling my wife a mail-order bride, my children entitled brats, and my good friend a "servant" would qualify here, one would think.

Quote:
11. Do not make disparaging comments about Perfume, the official Japanese electro-pop group of MormonDiscussions.com.

Does a group of Japanese girls who likely know nothing about this forum's existence deserve more respect than my wife and kids?

Because it's a repository, not a place for discussions.

No.

We're already ahead of you, man. Rule #2 for the Celestial forum, Terrestrial forum, and Spirit Paradise forum has been in place for years.

It depends on the group of Japanese girls.
