This latest posting run felt pretty off the wagony to me.

I used to get pissed off when I saw drivers who were obviously in a big fat hurry and zigzagging through traffic and cutting people off and just driving like everyone else was in their way.

Sometimes when I saw them, I would purposely maneuver to obstruct their progress. Sometimes, they would notice my clear intentions. Then everyone, including me, would get really fricking angry. It would make me feel terrible for hours.

Then I realized that was stupid, so I started doing this little thing: Whenever I saw those drivers, I imagined they have a bleeding infant in their back seat and are rushing them to the hospital. Then I make lots of room and let them pass me. And I feel great about it. Even knowing that it probably isn't true most of the time, I feel much better about it.

Same thing happened to me after I left the church. I stopped assuming the people with whom I disagree had evil, horrible intentions, and began starting with the assumption that they are seeking a better world through the spread of their beliefs.

So, droopy, why not start pretending in your own mind that we are all here because we each truly believe that the world will be made a better place if other people adopt our beliefs? You'll feel much better about us, collectively and individually, and you'll feel much better about yourself.

Whaddya say, kiddo?

I hope you continue posting here. I can't imagine trying to read the MAD board or Front Page Mag, and as I've said many times, I am a fan. If this retirement is for real please let me know what your twitter account is or where I can continue to follow.
