BYU Prof John L Lund Stealing Artifacts - What Happened?

So did former BYU Professor, John L Lund, ever go back to Israel and face charges that he was illegally trafficking in stolen artifacts as he was charged with? Anyone know what happened with this guy and the charges filed against him? Or did he just forfeit bail thinking it was the most efficient way out of facing charges?

Wow, while following that link, it looks like John Lund is using Joseph Smith to pimp his tours. He all but guarantees that tour attendees will see Book of Mormon ruins, based on Joseph's writings in the Times and Seasons.

He makes a pretty good case against Meldrum. But it is also a good case against an LGT, particularly a Mesoamerican one with his "both sides of the Rio Grande".

I believe John L. Lund was threatened with a Church Court for embarassing the Church in the Media, so he resigned and became a Baha'i.

It would not surprise me in the least if he just walk on the bail/bond he posted and decided to never go back to Israel and face charges. The cost of defense and publicity to the Church are most likely driving his decision. I suspect his hands are not clean and he concluded a $7500 bond was a cheap price to pay. He never goes back to Israel but can do his tour schtick elsewhere. He just has to stay out of the artifact trade.
