Far be it from me to come of the least bit a scholar. But this was twenty-seven years ago so please forgive.

I uploaded the pdf file of my paper to a host site.

Title Page of the Book of Mormon
Reformed Egyptian Characters Deciphered 1983

That is the wrong transcript, Nightlion. This is the one that Hoffman forged:

I know! That is what my title says. They are the same characters if you want to take the time to peruse the actual paper you will see that Hoffman only made up a handful of glyphs.

Ok. My computer can't seem to open the file. 10MB? Sheesh!

Hoffman's Forgery of 1980

Joseph Smith's "Caractors"

Image

MH's first column is the caractors first line, 2nd is the 2nd, 3rd is the 3rd, and the 4th is the 4th. Then the fifth line in the Caractors is in the two vertical boxes. Then the made up stuff before the two circles and the last box filled with glyphs from the original.

Here is a photo of a couple of pages of the actual deciphering.

Image

The columns read from right to left. This begins with the fifth column where Hoffman made it up. But it reads cool. The same glyphs hit on the same English text when they repeat.

Hi Nightlion.

It took a while to download your 10mb file, but after reading through most of it there were some points of interest that came to mind. For one, I was want to know if you noticed that for some of the same characters you have several different meanings, and you have several different characters that have the same meaning?

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

I am certain I address this in the end notes per each glyph. Some similar glyph are opposite meanings like "hath" as opposed to "not" three time the JH glyph has a stroke through the middle and it means "not" but without the stroke it means "hath".
The Y looking squiggly thing is used four times and it always means "that they may" or a slight variation of that. the double ear looking glyph )) with a line through it changes from "and" to "and also that" or "and that they". The one time it is used for "how" could have been rendered "and how". Look at the two times "remnant of the House of Israel" is rendered with the exact same glyph each time."Prophecy" is the same as "found" except with a dot. Just looking at the glyphs for "the interpretation thereof by the gift of God" it looks like the breastplate and Urim and Thummin!

There are lots of very cool glyphs like Jared, Jew, Gentile, prophecy, people. Look at "fault" and "mistake" for example. Look at "fathers" The glyph for destroyed varies from spotless only by a longer line in the middle as if to say "not spotless". Cool!

I took an awfully long time with this back in its day. Anyone who looks at it carefully without prejudice will be drawn into the possibility of it all.

Those characters can't be Reformed Egyptian. If they were, they'd translate into something like this:

Quote:
Now God stands ready to pity you; this is a day of mercy; you may cry now with some encouragement of obtaining mercy. But when once the day of mercy is past, your most lamentable and dolorous cries and shrieks will be in vain; you will be wholly lost and thrown away of God, as to any regard to your welfare. God will have no other use to put you to, but to suffer misery; you shall be continued in being to no other end; for you will be a vessel of wrath fitted to destruction; and there will be no other use of this vessel, but to be filled full of wrath. God will be so far from pitying you when you cry to him, that it is said he will only "laugh and mock," Prov. i. 25, 26, &c.

I think those characters are more likely Informed Egyptian which read thusly:

Quote:
I'm surrounded by religious crazies. The tax burden around here is so high that I can't afford eyeliner anymore and pyramid construction keeps traffic backed up for miles. I'm taking my two pet beetles and my birthday cake and getting the hell out of here.

I hope no one minds that I've treated the Anthon Transcript with all the seriousness it deserves.

Mocking the faith of others is such an endearing quality, if not a way to score points in certain crowds.

But, for someone to mind your lack of seriousness for Nightlions faith, would be to take you seriously in a way you do not deserve.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

Looks like you just got back from a nice vacation. Now, KA, I am certain that you have not read through the deciphering. Perhaps its too much like auto mechanics for your taste.

But why do you suppose God presence, which is a fullness of joy, is not a weary and dreary awareness of the sad tale of human refuge? Must be God comprehends enough to rejoice over all comprehending the end from the beginning. His joy becomes our great joy as we learn to trust and rely upon his Highness. For if knowing all things brings forth a fullness of joy in the greatest intelligence of all, why should we doubt it?

LOL. I read all this before I saw you new avatar. I always thought that it was stupid to have a two fangled light saber. How would you keep from slicing yourself to pieces?

You mean because of the length of a double-bladed lightsaber? It's not the length; it's the motion.

I don't know man. One light saber is unwieldy enough. Two on the same stick is more than doubly unwieldy.

Darth:

Excellent translation on #9. I would have overlooked it entirely, yet it has great significance in understanding the importance of the total message.

Excellent work!!!

I appreciate your reply, Nightlion, but I'm afraid it's nearly as indecipherable to me as the Anthon Transcript. Perhaps a paperweight in my sunhat will provide clarification. ;-)
