Thanks to Polygamy Porter!

Post by Julie »

I'm new here and just wanted thank to P.P. for the link to this forum. Expect several new members to head this way since Salt Lake City's TribTalk decided to yank their religious forum d/t a few Mormon whiners.
I have sent pm's to many on tribtalk and suggested they check the MD forum out and many have said they will do so. Hope to get to know many of you and look forward to less censorship here.
P.S. If you have a problem with any of the new comers--(Polygamy Porter is to blame). :) J/K!!
Cheers,
Julie

Thanks for the welcome. No, believe it or not P.P. wasn't the cause, it was a "Pesky Atheist" that set this one off! :) He couldn't help take a few shots at a so called Mormon who was stupid enough to post his Yahoo name and messenger in his personal info. Turned out there were links to porn sites--both female and choir boys! :o The guy hurried and removed it, but not until a few of us saw it. Long story short, I believe he threatened to sue or something?

Dangit. I knew I should have listened to Polygamy about going to that site. I love when self righteous people are taken down a peg by their hidden love of choir boy porn.

Hello ALL,

I'm PeskyAtheist. I'm being blamed (credited?) for the demise of the forum "Bridging The Religious Divide" in TribTalk, but I'm NOT to blame. I'm being framed. And now I'm being harrassed via instant messages & email by the framers. There have been wrongs committed all right, but not by me -- unless telling the truth and pointing out possible frauds and perverts is wrong. I'm thinking that I should go to the police, but then again -- most of the police in Utah are Mormons. Oh, what luck . . .

I'm thinking that I really should post those PM's and emails here. Should I?

Nice to meet you all,

Pesky

The best part was that he was from SHIELDS (guess he had more to appoligize for than just the usual Mormon stuff)!!

We're a little short on LDS here. Do you think any of the LDS from Tribtalk will come?

I remember you from that board. Welcome. :-)

This is where Dr. Shades's problem will begin to show itself. If the board lacks LDS a few posters and is overweighted with critics, the board will become one more haven for critics with the LDS posters getting the heave oh due to climate change or migrating away to happier fields.

It is not easy to get a healthy balance and keep the subject or board civil and balanced. However, the celestial room will need to be watched like a hawk to protect the LDS posters.

Good Luck Shades in this endeavor!

And yet you and I are still here. As are Rollo and Scratch, Gazelam and Loran, Wade and Liz, Jason and Kevin, Moksha and Plutarch and all the others. Most of us don't see any reason to leave. I can't speak for all, of course. Perhaps the church is not under-represented after all.

The mix is still good. But if the critics begin to outweigh the LDS and the LDS are surrounded by the critics and haranged...well....

But this is where the skill of Shades will need to come in.

Greetings and salutations to both Pesky Atheist and Julie! You are most welcome here, and it is a delight to see you both on the board.

I know from experience that professional LDS apologists are fond of playing dirty. For example, many here bore witness to Chief apologist Prof. Daniel C. Peterson attempting to smear notable LDS historian Mike Quinn on several occasions. (It seemed that Prof. Peterson, who has said elsewhere that he is an "agent" for the Strengthening the Members Committee, was guilty of gossipmongering about Quinn's sexuality.)

So, I for one am rather curious about this "dirt" on this SHIELDS apologist....

In any case, a hearty welcome to you!

You've got their number for sure. The following is an email that Stan Barker sent to harrass and attempt to locate me through the Atheists of Utah Website just yesterday. Enjoy!:

------ Original Message ------
Received: Tue, 27 Feb 2007 10:02:33 AM MST
From: "Stan Barker" <sdbarker@shields-research.org>
To: <joeljoel@usa.net>Cc: "SKINNY" <skinny@lyris.mhcc.edu>,
<lds-apologetics@dcomp.com>
Subject: Pesky Athiest

Joel, I don't know if you are "Pesky Athiest" or not, but if you are not I expect that you know who he/she is.

Pesky Athiest thinks that they have been communicating with me on the SL Tribune's Trib Talk. He/she has not been communicating with me, but instead with someone who has attempted to steal my identity and discredit me and my SHIELDS (www.shields-research.org) web site. The person communicating with Pesky had an email address of stanbarker00@msn.com. I have never had an msn.com e-mail address. Therefore, all of the posts by Pesky about me on the Trib Talk forum were pure bunk and after talking to my lawyer (my uncle in Salt Lake City) are quite actionable and probably criminal as well. So, you might want
to tell Pesky to consider pulling in his/her horns just a little because this whole thing has been rather upsetting to me and my family. It seems that some
people love garbage and are willing to run with anything with no thoughts about the effect they are having on other folks lives. That is sick and demonstrates irrational thinking.

Pesky Athiest was so certain that they were right when communicating with Blackberry, but Pesky was 100% wrong. The result is that all of the posts by the false Stan Barker have been taken down and Pesky temporarily banned from the forum. How silly does Pesky look now. If there is a next time when Pesky feels so compelled to act stupidly, perhaps he/she will make just a slight amount of effort to verify who they are communicating with.

The strangely paradoxical thing is that he/she would even care about me or ANY issue, given that he is an athiest. What is the passion that drives someone when there is no purpose to existence (other than meaningless personal perception), given an athiestic view of life? Even the passionate issues on your web site seem really quite silly because from an athiests viewpoint, ultimately nothing really matters. No amount of rationalizing is ever going to make up the difference. Ah, well, I guess I could go on and on about this, but I will forbear.

This atheist balogna really gets to me at times. Why are these guys so stupid? I can't be an atheist and have passion? Really, spending time with my family and loved ones really doesn't matter in some ultimate sense, because I don't believe in their specific God.

I don't believe in pink unicorns, but I can still have passion in my life and live a moral life, can't I? Christians like that are insecure and really judgmental jerks.
